GARRETT, JR., MEMORIAL PARK" <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City and this Council recently <br /> <br />mourned the passing of one of its finest police officers, Sergeant <br /> <br />George L. Garrett, Jr.; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the overwhelming sense of grief and shock felt, not <br /> <br />only in City offices, but throughout the community, has served to <br /> <br />create a common spirit of concern amoung those George Garrett has <br /> <br />left behind - family, friends, and a loving public for whom he so <br /> <br />selflessly gave his life; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, out of this common spirit has come a~ idea that a <br /> <br />public memorial should be established to honor this he~o; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council believes that a park, which all the <br /> <br />people may share, named in his honor would be a fitting memorial <br /> <br />for George Garr~tt; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE ; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />This Council hereby finds and determines that the municipal <br /> <br />park presently known as "Canyon Park" be-designated and renamed <br /> <br />"George L.
