<br />DES:djg-c 10/20/81 <br /> <br />OCT 2 6 1981 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />~Q.-8993 <br /> <br />ORIGiNAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING STATE-WIDE TRANSPORTATION <br />FINANCING PROGRAM (SB 215; CHAPTER 541, STATL~ES <br />OF 1981) <br /> <br />WHEREAS, State-wide Transportation Financing Legislation, <br /> <br />introduced as SB 215, has been signed by the Governor and chaptered <br /> <br />as Chapter 541, Statutes of 1981; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said SB 215 increases gasoline sales taxes by two <br /> <br />cents per gallon and raises transportation-related fees, effective <br /> <br />January I, 1983; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the revenues generated from SB 215 are necessary to <br /> <br />meet basic governmental expenses statewide and locally; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore, on the recommendation <br /> <br />of its Legislative Committee, supported SB 215; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in order for the provisions of SB 215 to become <br /> <br />operative the Boards of Supervisors representing two-thirds of the <br /> <br />State's population (with the exception of Los Angeles County) must <br /> <br />pass supportive resolutions and transmit them to the Governor by <br /> <br />November 15, 1981; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of the <br /> <br />County of San Mateo has requested this Council to evidence its <br /> <br />position with respect to SB 215; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. This Council does hereby evidence its approval of, and <br /> <br />does support, the provisions of SB 215, chaptered as Chapter 541, <br /> <br />Statutes of1981 (the Transportation Financing Legislation of 1981) <br /> <br />and does hereby urge and request the Board of Supervisors of the <br /> <br />County of San Mateo to support said legislation and to so advise <br /> <br />the Governor in accordance therewith. <br /> <br />2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to transmit <br /> <br />a certified copy of this Resolution to the Board of Supervisors of <br /> <br />the County of San Mateo. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br />
