RES 0 L UTI 0 N N O. 9024 DEe 14 1981 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY PROPOSING CERTAIN AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND ORDERING SUBMISSION THEREOF TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AT THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF APRIL 13, 1982 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The Council of Redwood City does hereby propose, on its motion, that those certain amendments hereinafter set forth be made to the Charter of the City of Redwood City, and does hereby order that such proposed Charter amendments be submitted to the electors of the city of Redwood City at the General Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, April 13, 1982. <br />qualified elector may vote for any Charter amendment proposition by <br /> <br />pulling down a lever adjacent to the word "YES" under or near a <br /> <br />statement of the Charter amendment proposition appearing on the <br /> <br />cardboard, paper or other material placed on the front of the <br /> <br />machine, and said act shall constitute a vote for the proposition; <br /> <br />and (2) so that any qualified elector may vote against any such <br /> <br />Charter amendment proposition by pulling down a lever adjacent to <br /> <br />the word "NO" under or near said statement of the proposition so <br /> <br />placed on the front of the machine, and said act shall constitute <br /> <br />a vote against the proposition. Said voting machines and the <br /> <br />preparation thereof shall comply in all respects with requirements <br /> <br />of law. <br /> <br />The returns of said election shall be made out and signed <br /> <br />by the election officers and as otherwise required by law and shall <br /> <br />be deposited with the City Clerk; and this Council shall meet at its <br /> <br />usual meeting place and canvass said returns at its regular meeting <br /> <br />on Monday, the 19th day of April, 1982 (being the first Monday after <br /> <br />said election), at the hour of 7:30 p.m., and declare the results <br /> <br />of said General Municipal Election. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. provisions proposed to be added by amendment are <br /> <br />indicated hereinafter by underlining in the text of the proposed <br /> <br />amendments, and provisions proposed to be deleted or repealed are <br /> <br />shown by lining through in such text. If approved, Charter provisions <br /> <br />affected by an amendment shall be enacted without such underlining <br /> <br />or lining through. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. <br /> <br />(a) The Council of Redwood City hereby proposes, <br /> <br />on its own motion, to amend Section 3-1/2 of the Charter of the <br /> <br />City of Redwood City to read as follows: <br /> <br />"SECTION 3-1/2. ACQUISITION AND DISPOSAL OF PROPERTY: <br /> <br />"Public notice shall be given by publication in the official <br />newspaper once at least five (5) days prior to the acquisition <br />of any real property when the purchase price to be paid by the <br />city equals or exceeds the sum of two thousand dollars ($2,000), <br /> <br />-2- <br />
