RES 0 L UTI 0 N N O. 9024 DEe 14 1981 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY PROPOSING CERTAIN AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND ORDERING SUBMISSION THEREOF TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AT THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF APRIL 13, 1982 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The Council of Redwood City does hereby propose, on its motion, that those certain amendments hereinafter set forth be made to the Charter of the City of Redwood City, and does hereby order that such proposed Charter amendments be submitted to the electors of the city of Redwood City at the General Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, April 13, 1982. <br />Commissioners having an appraised value of less than seventy- <br />five thousand dollars ($75,000) shall be authorized only by <br />resolution adopted by the affirmative vote of at least four- <br />fifths (4/5ths) of all members of the Board. Any such sale of <br />real property having an appraised value in excess of seventy- <br />fivt thousand dollars ($75,000) shall be authorized only by <br />ordinance of the Board of Port Commissioners adopted by the <br />affirmative vote of at least four-fifths (4/5ths) of all mem- <br />bers of the Board. Any ordinance required hereunder shall be <br />subject to the referendum provisions of this Charter. <br /> <br />"(f) Any lease of real property under the jurisdiction of <br />the City Council for a term of more than one (1) calendar <br />month shall be authorized by resolution of the Council. Any <br />lease of real property for a lesser period shall be authorized <br />by the City Council by motion duly made and carried. <br /> <br />II (g) No lease of property under the jurisdiction of the City <br />Council shall be made for a term longer than fifty (50) years. <br /> <br />"(h) No city property shall be exchanged for other property <br />until an appraisal of all property included in the exchange <br />has been made by the City Assessor and the value of the prop- <br />erty to be received by the city equals or exceeds the value of <br />the property to be disposed of by the city." <br /> <br />(b) Said Charter amendment proposal shall be submitted to the <br /> <br />electors of the City of Redwood City at the General Municipal Election <br /> <br />to be held in the City on April 13, 1982, in the form of a proposal <br /> <br />to amend said Charter by amending Section 3-1/2 thereof. On the ballots <br /> <br />and on the voting machines to be used at said election, in addition <br /> <br />to all other matters required by law to be printed thereon, shall <br /> <br />appear the following: <br /> <br />PROPOSITION A: Shall section 3-1/2 of the Charter of <br />the City of Redwood City be amended to <br />increase to $5,000 the maximum value of city-owned <br />personal property which may be sold without public <br />notice or bid? <br /> <br />SECTION 4. <br /> <br />(a) The Council of Redwood City hereby proposes, <br /> <br />on its own motion, to amend the Charter of the City of Redwood City <br /> <br />by amending Section 4 thereof to read as follows: <br /> <br />"SECTION 4. NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS: <br /> <br />"General municipal elections shall be held in said city on <br />the second Tuesday in April of each even-numbered year under and <br />pursuant to the provisions of the general laws of the State of <br />California governing nominations and elections in general law <br />cities, so far as the same may be applicable, and except as <br />herein otherwise provided. <br /> <br />"All other municipal elections that may be held by authority <br /> <br />-4- <br />
