<br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />~ Q. 9 222 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br />StP 1 3 1982 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT, BECAUSE OF <br />LOCAL CONDITIONS, THE PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY, WELFARE <br />AND NECESSITY, REQUIRE CHANGES OR MODIFICATIONS TO <br />CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE 1982 <br />EDITION, AS PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE <br />OF BUILDING OFFICIALS AND THE WESTERN FIRE CHIEFS <br />ASSOCIATION, AND AS ADOPTED BY REFERENCE, AND MADE <br />APPLICABLE TO THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 50022.1, et <br /> <br />seq., of the Government Code, and Section 15 of the Charter of the City <br /> <br />of Redwood City, this Council proposes to adopt by reference the "Uniform <br /> <br />Fire Code, 1982 Edition," as published by the International Conference of <br /> <br />Building Officials and the Western Fire Chiefs Association; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in connection therewith, certain changes or <br /> <br />modifications are proposed to be made to the substantive provisions of <br /> <br />said Uniform Fire Code, which changes or modifications are reasonably <br /> <br />necessary due to local conditions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in connection therewith, certain changes or <br /> <br />modfications are proposed to be made to the substantive provisions of <br /> <br />said Uniform Fire Code, wh.ich changes or modifications are reasonably <br /> <br />necessary due to local conditions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the changes and additions to said Uniform Fire Coder <br /> <br />which are proposed to be made impose more stringent fire protection <br /> <br />requirements relating to the installation of (1) autcrnatic sprinkler <br /> <br />systems and (2) fire detection, products-of-combustion alarm devices, <br /> <br />than are required by the provisions of the 1982 Edition of the Uniform <br /> <br />Building Code; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 17958.7 of the California Heal~h and Saf"t/ <br /> <br />Code requires insofar as such changes and additions re13te to apartillent <br /> <br />houses, hotels, motels and dwellings, and buildings and structures <br /> <br />3ccessory thereto, that the governing body of a city, before making 3ny <br /> <br />:hanges and additions, shall make an express finding that such changps <br /> <br />3nd additions are reasonably necessary; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCI L OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, i~S <br /> <br />fOLLOWS: <br /> <br />9222 <br /> <br />. <br />
