<br />Januilry 1983 <br /> <br />(Tly, <br />C~ <br /> <br />~~ <br /> <br />RECORDS SUPERVISOR <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />Under direction, to plan, organize and supervise the work of clerical staff <br />in the Records Division of the Police Department; to provide administrative <br />and technical assistance; and to do related work as required. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <br /> <br />Plans, schedules, directs and exercise general supervlslon over the work of <br />clerical and staff personnel in a large department; develops, implements and <br />evaluates work procedures assigned to subordinate personnel including records <br />kept, reports generated in the area of police records, crime statistics; makes <br />personnel assignments within the division; reviews the work of subordinate <br />personnel; enforces disciplinary action vlhen necessary;insures that new personnel <br />are properly and adequately trained in office methods and procedures; coordinates <br />with the Data Processing Section in implementing new data informational systems <br />and procedures; recommends vlork procedures and controls for detailed record <br />keeping; filing and indexing systems for reports; procedures for record reten- <br />tion; assists and administers the division's budget; accumulates statistics <br />and compiles records for use in checking various departmental activities. <br /> <br />REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br /> <br />Considerable knowlege of the principles and practices of supervlslon; good knowledge <br />of data processing and central records management; ability to supervise personnel; <br />ability to write and speak effectively; ability to manage and organize record <br />keeping systems; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships <br />with other supervisors and employees. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br /> <br />Three years work experience with increasing responsibility in :. modern polic~ <br />record function~ and graduation from a two year college in records management or <br />related field; or any equivalent combination of experi€nce and training which <br />provides the required knowlege, skills and abilities. <br /> <br />EXHIBIT '-A <br />
