<br />CGM:vm 3/29/83 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N O. <br /> <br />9 331 <br /> <br />ORIGI NAl <br />.4PR 1 8 1983 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION URGING ESTABLISHMENT OF A CITY LIBRARIANS' <br />DEPARTMENT WITHIN THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the League of California Cities was established <br /> <br />in 1898 to foster and facilitate quality municipal government <br /> <br />within the State of California; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the League of California Cities contains many <br /> <br />municipal divisions or departments; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, these divisions of the League of California <br /> <br />cities facilitate the exchange of information between, and <br /> <br />increase the administrative and fiscal effectiveness of, <br /> <br />municipal departments of cities in California having identical <br /> <br />functions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Library departments of municipalities in this <br /> <br />State are not part of a separate municipal division of the <br /> <br />League of California Cities which exclusion has detrimentally <br /> <br />affected communications between library administrators of <br /> <br />such departments; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> <br />CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />This Council urges the establishment of a separate Depart- <br /> <br />ment of City Librarians within the League of California <br /> <br />cities. <br /> <br />* * * <br /> <br />~ 331 <br />
