<br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />Traffic Operations Sup~-visor (can't) <br /> <br />Page 2 of 2 <br /> <br />Types and level of maintenance and repair activities generally <br />performed in a traffic signal, street lighting, electrical facilities, <br />and traffic painting/signing maintenance program. <br /> <br />Occupational hazards and standard safety precautions necessary in the <br />work. <br /> <br />Geography of the City, including the location of traffic signals, <br />street lights, and pump s~ations. <br /> <br />Basic elements of civil engineering as they relate to traffic signal, <br />street lighting, electrical facilities, and traffic painting/signing <br />maintenance and repair. <br /> <br />Principles of supervision and training. <br /> <br />Ability to: <br /> <br />Plan, organize, direct, and review the work of semi-skilled and skilled <br />maintenance personnel. <br /> <br />Evaluate traffic signal, street lighting systems, electrical facilities <br />maintenance needs and problems: and identify materials and resources <br />required to solve problems. <br /> <br />Interpret and work from sketches, penciled layouts and blueprints and <br />prepare plans for minor projects. <br /> <br />Keep records and make reports. <br /> <br />Supervise, train and evaluate subordinates. <br /> <br />Meet appropriate physical demands necessary for adequate job <br />performance. <br /> <br />Experience and Education <br /> <br />Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could <br />likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be <br />qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would <br />be: <br /> <br />Experience: <br /> <br />Three years of increasingly responsible experience in traffic signal, <br />street lighting, electrical facilities construction and maintenance, <br />including some lead supervisory experience. <br /> <br />Education: <br /> <br />. Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, preferably supplemented <br />with specialized college level courses in supervision and <br />construction-related subjects. <br /> <br />License or Certificate <br /> <br />Possession of a valid California Driver's License. <br /> <br />Traffic Signal Certification desirable. <br />
