<br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />Assistant City Engineer (Continued) <br /> <br />Knowledge of: <br /> <br />Recent developments, current literature and sources of information <br />regarding civil engineering. <br /> <br />Principles of organization, administration, budget and personnel <br />management. <br /> <br />Ability to: <br /> <br />Plan, direct, and review the work of subordinate staff. <br /> <br />Make complex engineering calculations and to prepare engineering plans <br />and specifications. <br /> <br />Review plans submitted by developers and others; identify deficiencies <br />and corrective action~ <br /> <br />Supervise the preparation and management of engineering records and <br />prepare comprehensive technical reports. <br /> <br />Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing; make <br />effective public presentations. <br /> <br />Select, supervise, train and evaluate professional and technical <br />subordinates. <br /> <br />Meet appropriate physical demands necessary for adequate job <br />performance. <br /> <br />Experience and Education <br /> <br />Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely <br />provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A <br />typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: <br /> <br />Experience: <br /> <br />Five years of progressively responsible professional civil <br />engineering and supervisory experience. <br /> <br />Education: <br /> <br />Equivalent to a Bachelor1s Degree from an accredited college or <br />university with major coursework in civil engineering. <br /> <br />License or Certificate <br /> <br />Possession of a certificate of registration as a professional civil <br />engineer in the State of California. <br /> <br />Possession of a valid California Driver's License. <br />
