<br />Exhibit "F" <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />BUILDING OFFICIAL <br /> <br />DEFINITION - To organize, direct, plan, supervise, and coordinate the work of <br />the Building Division of the Community Development Department; to provide <br />service to the community by the administration and enforcement of building <br />safety laws and regulations. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED - Administrative direction is provided by <br />the Community Development Director. Responsibilities include direct and <br />indirect supervision of other Building Division personnel. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> <br />Direct the operations of the Building Division; and participate in the <br />development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and <br />priorities of the division. <br /> <br />Plan, organize, control, and evaluate the functions and activities of the <br />Building Division, including building inspections, electrical inspections, <br />plumbing and mechanical inspections and plan checking. <br /> <br />Establish, improve, and coordinate the plan checking and building inspection <br />procedures of the City, and evaluate the need for and develop plans and <br />schedules. <br /> <br />Represent the Building Division at meetings of the City Council, Board of <br />Building Review, other Boards and Commissions, and at professional and public <br />meetings and community affairs as required. <br /> <br />Perform the most difficult field inspections and review inspections and <br />decisions made by subordinates. Review building permits to ensure inspection <br />and codes have been complied with. <br /> <br />Recommend and draft building and related code changes. <br /> <br />Supervise and participate in budget preparation and administration of the <br />Building Division. <br /> <br />Provide technical advice and information to the City Council, Board of <br />Building Review, City Manager, Community Development Director, and other <br />depa rtments. <br /> <br />Plan, develop, and administer training and instructional programs for <br />building inspection personnel. <br /> <br />Assure uniform interpretation and consistent enforcement of codes and provide <br />technical information on codes and compliance methods to contractors, <br />developers, architects. engineers, other city staff, and the general public. <br />
