<br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />Fire r~arshal (Continue <br /> <br />Applicable local, state and federal codes and regulatil?ns. <br /> <br />Laws and ordinances governing fire prevention activities. <br /> <br />Principles and techniques of building construction. <br />Principles and practices of supervision and training. <br />Department policies, procedures and operations. <br /> <br />Methods, techniques and equipment used in fire suppression, principles and <br />practices of organization, administration, budgeting and personnel <br />management. <br /> <br />Ab 11 ity to: <br /> <br />Investigate fires and determine their origins and causes. <br /> <br />Prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports. <br /> <br />Read and interpret construction plans and specifications; review plans for <br />conformance to codes, ordinances, and regulations; develop and implement <br />fire loss management policies and procedures. <br /> <br />Represent the Fire Department with contractors, engineers, and developers <br />and in public meetings. <br /> <br />Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. <br /> <br />Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned subordinates. <br /> <br />Perform a variety of responsible administrative tasks such as budgeting, <br />personnel administration, and procurement. Participate in long-range <br />planning and policy development. Plan, organize and participate in a <br />comprehensive fire prevention and loss management program. <br /> <br />Experience and Education <br /> <br />Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely <br />provide the required knowledge and ability would be qualifying. A typical <br />way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: <br /> <br />Experience: <br /> <br />Four years of responsible professional engineering experience in fire <br />protection design or review. <br /> <br />Education: <br /> <br />Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or <br />university with major course work in Fire Protection Engineering or <br />related field. <br /> <br />License or Certificate <br /> <br />Possession of a valid California Driver's License. <br />
