RES 0 L UTI 0 N N O. 10563 co py RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY ACKNOWLEDGING RECEIPT OF INITIATIVE PETITION PROPOSING CERTAIN AMENDMENT TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY; ACCEPTING CERTIFICATION OF THE CITY CLERK AS TO THE SUFFICIENCY OF SAID PETITION FOR CONSIDERATION BY THIS COUNCIL; ORDERING SUBMISSION THEREOF TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AT A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HEREIN CALLED FOR SUCH PURPOSE ON NOVEMBER 3, 1987; AND REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO TO CONSOLIDATE SAID ELECTION WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON SAID DATE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The Council of Redwood City does hereby acknowledge receipt of a petition proposing the amendment hereinafter set forth to the Charter of the City of Redwood City

<br />DE~:djk 7/27/87 <br /> <br />(#20) <br /> <br />provided in Section 14301 of the Elections Code, and the election <br /> <br /> <br />officers shall thereupon proceed to canvass the ballots cast <br /> <br /> <br />thereat. <br /> <br />Where a voting system is used at said Special Municipal <br /> <br /> <br />Election, the provisions of Chapter 3 (commencing with Section <br /> <br /> <br />15200), Division 11 of the Elections Code shall govern such <br /> <br />usage, and the ballot card or other device shall be prepared (1) <br /> <br />so that any qualified elector may vote for the proposed Charter <br /> <br /> <br />amendment by punching or otherwise specifying an affirmative vote <br /> <br />in a space provided therefor; (2) so that any qualified elector <br /> <br /> <br />may vote against the proposed Charter amendment by punching or <br /> <br /> <br />otherwise specifying a negative vote in a space provided <br /> <br />therefor. <br /> <br /> <br />Where voting machines are used at said Special Municipal <br /> <br /> <br />Election, said voting machines shall be arranged (1) so that any <br /> <br />qualified elector may vote for the proposed Charter amendment by <br /> <br /> <br />pulling down a lever adjacent to the word "YES" under or near the <br /> <br /> <br />statement of the Charter amendment measure appearing on the <br /> <br />cardboard, paper or other material placed on the front of the <br /> <br /> <br />machine, and said act shall constitute a vote for the measure; <br /> <br />and (2) so that any qualified elector may vote against the <br /> <br /> <br />proposed Charter amendment by pulling down a lever adjacent to <br /> <br />the word "NO" under or near said statement of the measure so <br /> <br /> <br />placed on the front of the machine, and said act shall constitute <br /> <br /> <br />a vote against the measure.
