<br />GENERA_ S=RVICES SUPERINTENDENT/U LITIES <br /> <br />DEFHHTION <br /> <br />To manage the operations and activities for designated functions <br />in the General Services Department, including streets, sewers, <br />water, storm drains, and pumping. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />General direction is provided by the General Services Director. <br /> <br />Responsibilities include direct and indirect supervision over assigned <br />technical and clerical personnel. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the <br />following: <br /> <br />Plan, organize, supervise and review operations in street cleaning <br />and maintenance, sanitary and storm sewers, pumping, water distribu- <br />tion, and other areas as assigned. <br /> <br />Evaluate operations in designated areas; develop programs to imple- <br />ment orderly maintenance and operation of City equipment, materials, <br />tools and vehicles. <br /> <br />Supervise projects in the upgrading and maintenance of City utilities <br />and streets. <br /> <br />Prepare plans and specifications for facilities' improvement and <br />maintenance projects. <br /> <br />Establish work priorities and monitor activities of assigned work areas. <br /> <br />Purchase equipment and supplies as needed. <br /> <br />Inspect and operate the City's water distribution system. <br /> <br />Develop and conduct supervisory, technical, and safety programs. <br /> <br />Assist with the preparation of the Department's budget. <br /> <br />Assume the duties and responsibilities of General Services Director <br />in his absence. <br /> <br />Respond to difficult citizen inquiries and complaints by answerlng <br />or seeing that necessary action is taken. <br /> <br />Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, <br />policies, procedures, and priorities. <br /> <br />Coordinate work of the Division with related City departments, private <br />contractors, and other public agencies. <br /> <br />EXHIBIT "A" <br />
