<br />""," <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />LIBRARY PRO~Pl-1 SUPERVISOR <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />To manage, direct and coordinate the Department-witte activities of a major <br />division of service such as adult services, technical services, or children's <br />services; to coordinate activities with other divisions and departments; to <br />provide highly complex staff assistance to the Library Director and Assist- <br />ant Library Director; and to function for the Library Director or Assistant <br />Library Director when needed. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />Receives general direction from the Library Director or Assistant Library <br />Director. <br /> <br />Exercises direct and indirect supervision over professional, technical and <br />clerical library staff. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> <br />Develop, plan, and implement Division goals and objectives; reconnend and <br />administer pol icies and procedures for a co~rehensive library division such <br />as adult services, children's services, or technical services with activities <br />in all City libraries. <br /> <br />Select, train, motivate and evaluate personnel; provide or coordinate staff <br />tra i n i ng; work with emp 1 oyees to correct def i c i enc i es; imp 1 ement d ise i p 1 i ne <br />and termination procedures. <br /> <br />Direct, oversee and participate in the development of the Division work plan; <br />assign work activities, projects and programs; monitor work flow; review and <br />evaluate work products, methods and procedures. <br /> <br />Develop programs to stimulate reader interest and provide for implementation <br />of programs in all City libraries, schools, day care centers, adult facilities <br />and other community locations. <br /> <br />Develop and provide subject expertise related to assigned division area; serve <br />as primary referral contact; develop training activities for Library staff. <br /> <br />Participate in budget preparation and administration; prepare cost estimates <br />for budget reconmendations; submit justifications for budget items; monitor <br />and control expenditures. <br /> <br />Provide for information services and reader's guidance services. <br /> <br />Compile and analyze library activity reports, evaluate library services, pro- <br />grams, systems, and procedures; recommend changes. <br /> <br />23 <br />
