<br />i <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR <br /> <br />DEFIN I nON <br /> <br />To manage, direct and coordinate department-wide the collection of library <br />materials; to coordinate the selection of materials and the removal of outworn <br />or outdated materials; to analyze collection use data and co~nity needs; to <br />prepare collection management olans; to coordinate activities with other <br />divisions and departments; and to provide highly co~lex staff assistance to <br />the Library Director. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />Receives direction from the Library Director. <br /> <br />Exercises functional supervision over professional, technical and clerical <br />library staff. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not liMited to the following: <br /> <br />Recommend and administer policies and procedures for ~anagement of the <br />library's collections; develop, plan and imolement collection-related goals <br />and objectives. <br /> <br />Direct, oversee, and participate in the selection and deletion of materials; <br />monitor work flow, review and evaluate collection management decisions, <br />methods and procedures. <br /> <br />Provide information services and reader's guidance services. <br /> <br />Part ici pate in budget preparation and admini strat ion i prepare cost est imates <br />for budget recol1ll1endations, submit justifications for budget items, monitor <br />and control expenditures. <br /> <br />Compile and analyze collection activity reports; assess community needs; <br />evaluate collection content, systems and procedures, recommend changes. <br /> <br />Supervise and participate in the design, preparation and distribution of <br />bibliographies, book displays, press releases and other library publicity. <br /> <br />Evaluate donated books for inclusion in collection; selection memorial <br />donation books; solicit donations. <br /> <br />Determine materials to be placed on standing order. <br /> <br />Solicit patron requests; review reserves and interlibrary loan requests. <br /> <br />Prepare, implement, coordinate, and evaluate collection development plans. <br /> <br />31 <br />
