<br />~ <br />"I <br />. <br /> <br />... <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />LIBRAAY CLERK <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />To perform general clerical work in support of the various sections of the <br />Library; to process 1 ibrary materials; to check materials in and out of the <br />Library; and to provide general assistance to patrons. <br /> <br />SUPER VIS ION RECEI VED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />Receives immediate supervision from higher level library personnel. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />Assist in processing current library materials; evaluate and maintain orderli- <br />ness of shelved materials; pull and route materials in need of mending, bind- <br />ing, repairing or discarding. <br /> <br />Assist in preparing print and non-print materials for introduction into the <br />library collection, including applying labels, pockets and property stamps; <br />count incoming shelf lists and file according to established procedures. <br /> <br />Check out books and other library materials; count and record cas~. <br /> <br />Provide assistance to library patrons in using stored periodicals and <br />microfilm reader equipment. <br /> <br />Inspect audio-visual materials by checking tapes, films and records for damage <br />or distortion. <br /> <br />Perform general clerical work such as typing and filing. <br />Sort and distribute mail, correspondence and other materials. <br />Maintain community bulletin boards. <br />Prepare materials for delivery; receive and distribute library items. <br />Perform related duties as assigned. <br /> <br />QUALIF I CATIONS <br />Knowledge of: <br />Modern office ~thods, procedures and equipment. <br />English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. <br /> <br />Principles of basic mathematics. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />71 <br />
