Ripple to T. Passanisi

Dear Tom:

I have revised the field sampling options identified in the referenced
letter to reflect requests made during our meeting of June 9, 1989 with
your office and the County Health Department. The sampling options are
summarized in the enclosed tables and the revised estimated costs have
also been enclosed.

The principal change in the sampling options is the inclusion of the
construction and sampling of two deeper groundwater wells on the mound
area of the site, and the sampling of soil gases in the non-refuse fill
areas of the site. As indicated on the enclosed tables, the results of
these sampling activities are not expected to contribute to preparation
of the health risk assessment. The results of these investigations will
contribute to the further characterization of the site.

To date, I have not provided you with any cost estimates associated with
our scoping activities for identification of the field sampling options.
Estimated costs associated with scope development and scoping meetings
(two meetings) are as follows:

Principal Scientist 32 hrs. x $100 /hr. $ 3,200
Principal Hydrogeologist 20 hrs. x 1l0/hr. 2,200
Supervising Engineer 5 hrs. x 100/hr. 500
Senior Geologist 5 hrs. x 75/hr. 375
Secretarial 8 hrs. x 3J/hr. ~
TOTAL $ 6,515
