<br />DES:djk 09/14/89 (015/26) <br />DES:djJ 9/19/89R <br /> <br />Sf? 1 9 1989 <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N o. 11150 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ELECTING TO BE SUBJECT TO PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' <br />MEDICAL AND HOSPITAL CARE ACT ONLY WITH RESPECT TO <br />MEMBERS OF CERTAIN SPECIFIC EMPLOYEE ORGANIZATIONS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Government Code Section 22850.3 provides that a <br /> <br />local agency contracting with the Public Employees' Retirement <br /> <br />System <br /> <br />( " PERS " ) <br /> <br />may <br /> <br />elect, <br /> <br />upon <br /> <br />proper <br /> <br />application, <br /> <br />to <br /> <br />participate under the Public Employees' Medical and Hospital Care <br /> <br />Act with respect to only specifically designated recognized <br /> <br />employee organizations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City, hereinafter referred to <br /> <br />as "Public Agency", is a local agency contracting with PERS; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Public Agency desires to obtain for the members of <br /> <br />Service Employees' International Union - Local 715, the Redwood <br /> <br />City Police Officers Association, the Redwood City Management <br /> <br />Employees Association, and the association of officers and <br /> <br />employees designated as management and confidential and/or <br /> <br />"exempt" employees, only, who are employees and annuitants of <br /> <br />Public Agency, the benefits of the aforesaid Act, and to accept <br /> <br />the liabilities and obligations of an employer under the Act and <br /> <br />Regulations implementive thereof; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. This Council does hereby elect, for and on behalf of <br /> <br />the City of Redwood City (defined hereinabove as "Public Agency") <br />to be subject to the provisions of the Public Employees' Medical <br />
