ORDINANCE NO. 2354 ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 27.100 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO SANITARY SEWERAGE SERVICE CHARGES THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1 . Section 27.100 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby amended in its entirety to read as follows: "Section 27.100. SERVICE CHARGES: A. Established: The following charges are hereby established and levied upon each premises or any portion thereof which receives or uses sewerage service from the sewerage facilities

The remedies herein established shall be cumulative and in addition to <br />any and all other remedies available to the City fo; the collection of sewer service <br />charges. <br />SECTION 2. This ordinance is statutorily exempt under Public <br />Resources Code Section 21080(b)(8). The City Council finds that the sanitary <br />sewerage service charges are for the purpose of meeting operating expenses, <br />including employee wage rates and fringe benefits, purchasing or leasing <br />supplies, equipment, or materials, meeting financial reserve needs and <br />requirements, and obtaining funds for capital projects necessary to maintain <br />service within existing service areas. The Staff Report dated April 12, 2010 <br />expressly states in the "Background" section and in "Attachment 3" that the City's <br />share of the operation, maintenance, and improvements of South Bayside <br />System Authority (SBSA), as well as the operation and maintenance of the City's <br />system, necessitate a rate increase and that revenues are used for the operation <br />and maintenance of the collection system and the wastewater treatment plant. <br />SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days from the <br />date of its adoption; provided, however, that water utility bills pertaining to the <br />period before July 1, 2010 shall reflect the existing billing service charges and <br />fees for the portion of the billing period prior to July 1, 2010 to which the bills <br />apply. <br />SECTION 4. All residential and commercial water utility bills generated on <br />or after July 1, 2010, shall reflect the revisions in billing service charges and fees <br />for the portion of the billing period commencing on July 1, 2010 to which the bills <br />apply. <br />Atty /Ord /Ord.331 4 2354 <br />041310 Formerly Muff #805 <br />
