oz/o6/ZOiz
Section 9. Pursuant to Section 11.48 of the Code of the City of Redwood City,
the utility company which undertakes underground installation of its facilities shall use
the underground conversion allocation computed pursuant to decision of the Public
Utilities Commission of the State of California ("CPUC") for the purpose of providing to
each parcel allocation computed pursuant to decision of the CPUC for the purpose of
providing to each parcel in the Underground Utility District individual electric service
trenching and conductor to the extent required (including backfill, paving, and conduit),
but not exceeding 100 feet. Each other serving utility shall provide service trenching and
conductor in accordance with its tariffs on file with the CPUC or as required by its
Franchise Agreement with the City.
PG&E has recently expanded the Rule 20A program to allow community
participation in the Electric Panel Service Conversion Program. Rule 20A allocations
may now be used to pay for the entire cost of adapting electric panels that will receive
underground service. With the exception of the City's responsibility for obtaining a
signed right-of-entry for each property to enable PG&E's contractor to complete the
panel modifications, PG&E will lead the panel conversion construction portion of the
project. They will make all necessary modifications to the property owner's electric
panels and trenching agencies to enable them to receive underground service. The
entire cost of this work is charged against the community's Rule 20A allocation.
Section 10. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy
of this Ordinance to PG&E and request, on behalf of the City Council, that PG&E pay
from the existing allocation of the City of Redwood City for: (a) the installation of each
customer's underground electric service lateral occasioned by the undergrounding; (b)
the conversion of electric service panels to accept underground service, excluding
permit fees.
Section 11. From and after the time fixed by Section 4 of this Ordinance, it shall
be unlawful for any person, including utility companies, to erect, maintain or operate any
pole, overhead wire or associated structure in any portion of the street, road, alley or
way within Underground Utility District No. 2011-1, except to the extent expressly
permitted. Violations of this Section shall constitute a misdemeanor pursuant to the
Code of the City of Redwood City and shall be punishable as provided in Section 1.7 of
the Code of the City of Redwood City.
Section 12. The City Clerk shall give notice of the adoption of this Ordinance as
provided by Section 11.47 of the Code of the City of Redwood City and shall
accompany said notice with a copy of this Ordinance.
Section 13. This Ordinance shall be effective 30 days from the date of its
adoption.
  .
ATTY/ORD.365/MIDDLEFIELD UUD ORD. # 2376
REV:01/10/12 FORMERLY MUFF 804
