01/13/2014 <br /> SALVAGE means the controlled removal of Designated Recyclable and <br /> Reusable Materials from C&D Debris derived from a Covered Project, for the <br /> purpose of recycling, reuse, or storage for later recycling or reuse. <br /> STANDARDIZED CONVERSION RATES means rates set forth in the <br /> standardized Conversion Rate Table approved by the City pursuant to this Article <br /> for use in estimating the volume or weight of materials identified in the Waste <br /> Management Plan. <br /> STRUCTURE means anything constructed or erected, the use of which requires <br /> location on or in the ground, or attachment to something having location on the <br /> ground. <br /> WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN means a completed waste management plan <br /> (WMP) form, approved by the City for the purpose of compliance with this Article, <br /> submitted by the Applicant for any Covered or Non-Covered Project. <br /> Sec. 9.192. - Deconstruction, Salvage, and Recovery: <br /> A) Structure and/or hardscape improvements planned for demolition shall be <br /> made available for deconstruction, salvage, and recovery prior to <br /> demolition. <br /> B) It shall be the responsibility of the owner, the general contractor and all <br /> subcontractors to recover the maximum feasible amount of salvageable <br /> materials prior to demolition. Additions to non-residential buildings or <br /> structures of at least 1,000 square feet, or alterations with an estimated <br /> construction cost of at least $200,000 shall also recycle and/or salvage for <br /> reuse a minimum 50 percent of the nonhazardous construction and <br /> demolition debris. <br /> C) Recovered and salvaged materials from the deconstruction phase shall <br /> qualify toward meeting the diversion requirements of this Article. <br /> D) Recovered or salvaged materials may be given away or sold on the <br /> premises, or may be removed to a reuse warehouse or other reuse facility <br /> for storage or sale. <br /> E) In the event that it is determined that no materials can be salvaged for <br /> reuse from a particular project, written documentation shall be provided to <br /> the City as to the reasons why salvaging cannot take place at least three <br /> (3) working days before demolition begins.
