SECTION 2. Section 32.505.A. of the Code of the City of Redwood City is <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "Section 32.505. GAS USERS TAX: <br /> <br /> A. There is hereby imposed a tax upon every person in the City using <br /> <br /> gas in the City which is delivered through mains or pipes, except as <br /> hereinafter provided. The tax imposed by this Section shall be at <br /> the rate of five percent (5%) of the charges made for such gas and <br /> shall be paid by the person paying for such gas; provided, that said <br /> tax shall not apply to (i) a gas corporation, (ii) an electrical <br /> corporation, and (iii) any individual who qualifies for the California <br /> Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) Program pursuant to Public <br /> Utilities Code Sections 327 and 739.1, et seq., as said Section may <br /> be amended from time to time; provided, further, that if the CARE <br /> Program is repealed or otherwise ceases to exist in a substantially <br /> similar form, the foregoing exemption shall automatically terminate." <br /> <br /> SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days from the <br />date of its adoption. <br /> <br /> SECTION 4.
