ORDINANCE NO ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLES IV, V, VI, VII, VIII AND ARTICLE IX, DIVISIONS 1, 2 AND 3 OF CHAPTER 9 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY; ADDING ARTICLES IV, V, VI, VII, VIII AND ARTICLE IX, DIVISIONS 1 AND 2 OF CHAPTER 9 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS FOR BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE FOLLOWING CODES: "THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE 1997 EDITION"; "THE UNIFORM BUILDING SECURITY CODE, 1997 EDITION"; "THE UNIFORM HOUSING CODE, 1997 EDITION"; "THE UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE, 2000 EDITION"; "THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE, 2000 EDITION"; "THE UNIFORM ADMINISTRATIVE CODE PROVISIONS FOR THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1996 EDITION"; "THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1999 EDITION"; AND "THE UNIFORM CODE FOR BUILDING CONSERVATION, 1997 EDITION

The top of the concrete floor slab shall be a <br /> minimum six (6) inches above exterior finished grade. <br /> <br /> Sec. 9.74 SECTION 2204 OF THE BUILDING CODE AMENDED: Section 2204 <br />of the Building Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 2204.1 Load and Resistance Factor Design. Steel design based on load <br /> and resistance factor design method shall resist the factored load combinations <br /> of section 1612.2 in accordance with the applicable requirements of Section <br /> 2205. <br /> <br /> Section 2204.2 Allowable Stress Design. Steel design based on allowable <br /> stress design methods shall resist the factored load combinations of section <br /> 1612.3 in accordance with the applicable requirements of Section 2205. <br /> <br /> Sec. 9.75 SECTION 2205.3 OF THE BUILDING CODE AMENDED: Section <br />2205.3 of the Building Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 2205.3 Seismic Design Provision for Structural Steel. Steel structural <br /> elements that resist seismic forces shall, in addition to the requirements of <br /> Section 2205.2, be designed in accordance with Division IV. <br /> <br /> Sec. 9.76 DIVISION IV AND V OF CHAPTER 22 OF THE BUILDING CODE <br />ARE DELETED IN THEIR ENTIRETY. <br /> <br /> Sec. 9.77 DIVISION IV OF CHAPTER 22 OF THE BUILDING CODE IS ADDED <br />TO READ AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Division IV - SEISMIC PROVISIONS FOR STRUCTURAL STEEL BUILDINGS <br /> Based on Seismic Provision for Structural Steel Building, of the American <br /> Institute of Steel Construction, Parts I and III, dated April 15, 1997 and <br /> Supplement No. 2, dated November 10, 2000. <br /> <br /> Sec. 9.78 SECTION 2210 OF THE BUILDING CODE AMENDED: Section 2210 <br />of the Building Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 2210 Adoption. Except for the modifications as set forth in Section 2211 <br /> and 2212 of this Division and the requirements of the Building Code, the seismic <br /> design, fabrication and erection of structural steel shall be in accordance with the <br /> Seismic Provisions for Structural Steel Buildings, April 15, 1997 published by the <br /> American Institute of Steel Construction, 1 East Wacker Dr., Suite 3100, <br /> Chicago, II 60601, as if set at length herein.
