ORDINANCE NO. 2316 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY ADDING ARTICLE VIII TO CHAPTER 32 OF THE REDWOOD CITY MUNICIPAL CODE WITH RESPECT TO A COMMUNICATION USERS' TAX. THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Article VIII of Chapter 32 of the Redwood City Municipal Code is hereby added to read as follows: Article VIII. <br />11/26/2007 <br /> <br />one or more remedies by the City shall not bar the use of any other remedy for the <br />purpose of enforcing the provisions of this Article. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. Effective Date. This Article shall become effective immediately <br />upon the date that this Ordinance is confirmed and approved by the voters of Redwood <br />City at the Municipal General Election of November 6,2007. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. Amendment or Repeal. Article VIII of Chapter 32 of the <br />Redwood City Municipal Code may be repealed or amended by the City Council without <br />a vote of the people. However, as required by Article XIIIC of the California Constitution, <br />voter approval is required for any amendment provision that would exceed the maximum <br />rate of tax as previously approved by the voters in the enactment of this Ordinance. <br /> <br />SECTION 4. Severability. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, <br />or portion of this Ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid or unenforceable by a <br />court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining portions of this Ordinance shall <br />nonetheless remain in full force and effect. The people hereby declares that they would <br />have adopted each section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion of this <br />Ordinance, irrespective of the fact that anyone or more sections, subsections, <br />sentences, clauses, phrases, or portions of this Ordinance be declared invalid or <br />unenforceable. <br /> <br />SECTION 5. Ratification of Prior Tax. The voters of the City of Redwood City <br />hereby ratify and approve the past collection of the Telephone and Video Users' Tax <br />under Article VII of Chapter 32 of the Redwood City Municipal Code as it existed prior to <br />the effective date of this Ordinance. <br /> <br />SECTION 6. Execution.
