01/14/2008 <br /> SECTION 11. This Council finds and determines that pursuant to Section 50022.1 of <br /> the Government Code, the City is authorized to adopt the Uniform Codes by reference <br /> and amend same by ordinance. Section 18941.5 of the Health and Safety Code <br /> provides in part that the ordinance adopted by local entities must take effect 180 days <br /> after the publication of the Model Ordinance published by the California Building <br /> Standards Commission ("Commission"). The date by which the ordinance must take <br /> effect is January 1, 2008. In the event that the Ordinance does not take effect by <br /> January 1, 2008, the Uniform Codes, as adopted by the Commission, will be in full force <br /> and effect in the City of Redwood City. As a consequence of the peculiar local climatic, <br /> geographical and topographical conditions within the City, the public health and safety <br /> dictate that this Ordinance shall take effect 30 days after its adoption; provided, <br /> however, that the construction of any building or structure lawfully commenced by the <br /> completion of its foundation structure may be completed in accordance with applicable <br /> provisions of the Redwood City Code repealed by this Ordinance provided that such <br /> construction is in strict compliance with such provisions. <br /> * * * <br /> Atty/Ord/Ord.291 2324 <br /> 120307 11 FORMERLY MUFF#305 <br />
