Description
AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY; ADDING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO FIRE PREVENTION; AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE "UNIFORM FIRE CODE, 1988 EDITION", AS PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS AND THE WESTERN FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Article II (commencing at 12.7) of Chapter 12 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby repealed. SECTION 2. Article II (commencing at 12.7) is hereby added to Chapter 12 of the Code of the City of Redwood City, to read as follows

Exempt amounts. When the amount of liquid and <br /> <br />solid oxidizers stored in one control area exceeds that <br /> <br />specified in Table No. 80.306-A, such storage shall be <br /> <br />wi thin a room or building conforming to the Building Code <br /> <br />requirements for the following occupancies: <br /> <br />Oxidizer Class Occupancy Group <br /> <br />Class 4 H-1 <br />Class 3 H-2 <br />Class 1 and Class 2 H-3 <br /> <br />Storage in excess of the exempt amounts specified in Table <br />No. 80.306-A shall comply with Items 3 through 14. No exempt amounts of Class 4 oxidizers are permitted in Group R <br />occupancies or offices or retail sales portions of Group B <br />occupancies. <br /> <br />2. No exempt amounts of Class 4 oxidizers are permitted in Group A, <br />E, I or M occupancies or in classrooms of Group B occupancies <br />unless storage is within a hazardous material storage cabinet <br />containing no other storage. <br /> <br />3. A maximum quantity of 200 pounds of solid or 20 gallons of liquid <br />Class 3 oxidizers may be permitted in I, M and R occupancies, when <br />such materials are necessary to maintenance purposes or operation <br />of equipment.
