AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY; ADDING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO FIRE PREVENTION; AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE "UNIFORM FIRE CODE, 1988 EDITION", AS PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS AND THE WESTERN FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Article II (commencing at 12.7) of Chapter 12 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby repealed. SECTION 2. Article II (commencing at 12.7) is hereby added to Chapter 12 of the Code of the City of Redwood City, to read as follows

Definitions. <br /> The following words or terms as used in the Fire Code <br />and herein shall be deemed to have the meanings respectively <br />ascribed thereto: <br /> (a) 'Municipality' means the City. <br /> (b) 'Chief of the Bureau of Fire Prevention' means the <br /> Fire Marshal. <br /> (c) 'Chief' means the Head of the Fire Department. <br /> (d) 'Administrator' means the City Manager. <br /> (e) 'Code' means the Uniform Fire Code, 1988 Edition, <br /> including Appendices I, II, III and IV. <br /> (f) 'Approved', unless otherwise stated, shall mean <br /> approved by the Chief. <br /> Section 12.9. Section 1.130 amended. <br /> Section 1.103 of the Fire Code is hereby amended to <br />read as follows: <br /> Section 1.103 Scope. <br /> (a) The provisions of this Code shall supplement any <br />and all laws of this State relating to fire safety and shall <br />apply to all persons, firms or corporations without <br />restriction, unless specifically excepted. <br /> (b) The provisions of this Code shall apply to <br />existing conditions as well as to conditions arising after <br />the adoption thereof, except that conditions legally in <br />existence at the adoption of this Code and not in strict <br />compliance therewith shall be permitted to continue only if, <br /> 2 <br /> ._._-_. <br />
