ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLES IV, V, VI, VII, VIII AND DIVISIONS 2 AND 3 OF ARTICLE IX OF CHAPTER 9 AND CHAPTER 31 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY; ADDING ARTICLES IV, V, VI, VII, VIII AND DIVISION 2 OF ARTICLE IX OF CHAPTER 9 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS FOR BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE FOLLOWING CODES: "THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, 1991 EDITION"; "THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE STANDARDS, 1991 EDITION"; "THE UNIFORM BUILDING SECURITY CODE, 1991 EDITION"; "THE UNIFORM HOUSING CODE, 1991 EDITION"; "THE UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE, 1991 EDITION"; "THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE, 1991 EDITION"; AND "THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1990 EDITION" THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. '" <br />Plumbing Code to read as follows: <br />"Section 9.87. Appendix D, Section Dl of the Plumbing <br />Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> "'Dl. Materials. (a) Rainwater piping placed <br /> - <br />within the interior of a building or run within a vent <br />or shaft shall be of cast iron, galvanized steel, <br />wrought iron, brass, copper, lead, Schedule 40 ABS DWV <br />or Schedule 40 PVC DWV or other approved materials. <br />ABS and PVC DWV piping installations shall be limited <br />to residential construction, not more than two (2) <br />stories in height, except as required in Section D1(c). <br /> " , (b) Rainwater piping located on the exterior of <br />a building shall be not less than 26 ga. galvanized <br />sheet metal. When the conductor is connected to a <br />building storm drain or storm sewer, a drain connection <br />shall be extended above the finished grade and jointed <br />at a point protected from injury. <br /> "'(c) Rainwater piping located underground within <br />a building shall be of service weight cast iron soil <br />pipe, Type DWV copper tube, Schedule 40 ABS DWV or <br />Schedule 40 PVC, DWV, extra strength vitrified clay <br />pipe, or other approved materials. Metallic piping <br />shall not be used underground in those areas underlain <br />by younger bay mud (see map published by Redwood City <br />Building Division for approximate locations). <br /> 12 <br /> .._...--. <br />
