ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLES IV, V, VI, VII, VIII AND DIVISIONS 2 AND 3 OF ARTICLE IX OF CHAPTER 9 AND CHAPTER 31 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY; ADDING ARTICLES IV, V, VI, VII, VIII AND DIVISION 2 OF ARTICLE IX OF CHAPTER 9 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS FOR BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE FOLLOWING CODES: "THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, 1991 EDITION"; "THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE STANDARDS, 1991 EDITION"; "THE UNIFORM BUILDING SECURITY CODE, 1991 EDITION"; "THE UNIFORM HOUSING CODE, 1991 EDITION"; "THE UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE, 1991 EDITION"; "THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE, 1991 EDITION"; AND "THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1990 EDITION" THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The <br />provisions of this division shall be applicable to that <br />portion of the City of Redwood City underlain by younger bay <br />mud as indicated on that map prepared by the building <br />department of the City of Redwood City entitled "Area of <br />Redwood City Underlain by Younger Bay Mud," and on file in <br />the Office of the City Clerk." <br /> "Section 9.122. One and two-story residences. For <br />one-and two-story residential buildings or structures only, <br />all lot grading, soils design, foundation design, and <br />construction design including lateral force analysis, shall <br />be in accordance with the recommendations of the <br />"Recommended Foundation Design Criteria for One-and <br />Two-Story Residences" prepared by Rutherford and Chekene, <br />Consulting Structural Engineers, (dated April 15, 1974), as <br />revised by the addendum dated August 1, 1991, and as adopted <br />by the City Council, which document is on file in the office <br />of the City Clerk." <br /> "Section 9.123. Structural Design. All structural <br />design shall be in accordance with the Uniform Building <br />Code, 1991 Edition, including lateral force provisions for <br />earthquake except as modified herein. All structures in the <br />younger bay mud area shall use site coefficient S4 from <br />Table 23-J, unless the building official determines that <br />Soil Profile other than S4 exists at the site. <br /> "Section 9.124.
