by locating an employment-generating use near residential areas, thereby <br /> helping to create a more favorable jobs-housing balance. In addition, the <br /> Project will supply and contribute to significant traffic mitigation <br /> measures. By helping to reduce traffic congestion, these measures will also <br /> reduce Project impacts on air quality. The Facts in Support of CEQA <br /> Finding 2.5.1 hereby are incorporated by reference. <br /> <br /> (10) The City's Circulation Goal is to "[m]aintain and improve Redwood <br /> City's transportation system to the mutual benefit of motor vehicles, <br /> public transportation, bicycles, and pedestrians, while reducing automobile <br /> usage by enhancing the attractiveness of alternative transportation modes." <br /> The Project will help the City to meet this goal. The design of the Project <br /> will encourage pedestrian use and diminish the need for automobile trips <br /> by establishing common area walkways. These walkways link the larger <br /> open spaces to each other, as well as linking the campus to surrounding <br /> amenities. The Project developer or its tenants will provide a shuttle <br /> service to transport employees to and from the nearest CalTrain station. <br /> Subject to City approval, this requirement may be replaced by <br /> participation in the existing shuttle service that serves other commercial <br /> properties in Redwood Shores. The Project will participate in the County <br /> Transportation Management Program. The Project will also supply and <br /> contribute to significant traffic mitigation measures. The Facts in Support <br /> of CEQA Finding 2.5.1 hereby are incorporated by reference. <br /> <br /> (11) One of the City's Motor Vehicle Transportation Objectives is to "allow <br /> for the safe and convenient movement and access of motor vehicles in <br /> Redwood City, but not at the expense of the environment or the overall <br /> quality of life in Redwood City or to the detriment of alternative <br /> transportation modes." The Project will help the City to meet this <br /> objective. The design of the Project will encourage pedestrian use and <br /> diminish the need for automobile trips by establishing common area <br /> walkways. These walkways link the larger open spaces to each other, as <br /> well as linking the campus to surrounding amenities. The Project developer <br /> or its tenants will provide a shuttle service to transport employees to and <br /> from the nearest CalTraln station. Parking for <br /> each phase of the Project meets the City's parking requirements. Special <br /> care has been taken to minimize the visual impact of both garages and <br /> surface lots to the Redwood Shores Parkway. This was done by setting <br /> the parking structures well within the campus, by landscaping the lots, and <br /> by surrounding the roadway edge of the campus with an informal <br /> arrangement of trees.
