ORDINANCE NO. 2161 ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLE II, CHAPTER 3 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD RELATING TO SIGNS AND ADDING ARTICLE II, CHAPTER 3 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO SIGNS Section 1. Article II ("Signs") of Chapter 3 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby repealed. Section 2. Article II ("Signs") is hereby added to Chapter 3 of the Code of the City of Redwood City to read as follows: "ARTICLE II SIGNS

b. Signs on Public Property. The City shall have the authority to cause any sign <br /> in violation of the provisions of this Article, which is displayed on public property <br /> or right-of-way promptly to be removed without notice. The City shall make a <br /> reasonable attempt to identify the owner of such sign and give written notice of <br /> such removal and of the costs payable to the City for retrieval of the sign. The <br /> City shall store any removed sign for at least ten (10) calendar days. The <br /> property owner and/or the person responsible for the installation and/or <br /> maintenance of the sign shall be liable for the costs incurred by the City for its <br /> removal, alteration and/or storage which shall be payable as a condition of <br /> release of the sign. <br /> <br />Section 3.136. Infraction. The provisions of this Article shall be enforced by the City in <br />accordance with the following provisions: <br /> <br /> a. Any person, firm, or corporation whether as principal, agent, employee, or <br /> otherwise, who shall violate or cause the violation of any provision of this <br /> Article or of any permit made or issued thereunder shall severally, for each <br /> and every such violation, be guilty of an infraction and, upon conviction <br /> thereof, shall be punishable as provided in Section 1.7B of this Code. <br /> <br /> The imposition of any one penalty for any violation shall not excuse the <br /> violation or permit it to continue. Each day during any portion of which any <br /> violation is committed or continued by such person, firm, or corporation shall <br /> constitute a separate offense and shall be punishable as herein provided. <br /> <br /> b. The Zoning Administrator or the authorized representatives of the Zoning <br /> Administrator shall have the authority to issue citations for violations of this <br /> Article or any permit made or issued thereunder. <br /> <br /> DIVISION 15. INTERPRETATION, REPEALS, AND EFFECTIVE DATE <br /> <br />Section 3.137. Interpretation. If any provision of this Article conflicts with any other <br />provision of this Code, the other provision shall control. <br /> <br />Section 3.138. Severability. If any provision of this Article or the application thereof is <br />held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect any other provision or application of <br />this Article that can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to <br />this end the provisions of this Article are severable. <br /> <br /> Section 3.
