ORDINANCE NO. 2166 AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY; ADDING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO FIRE PREVENTION; AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE "UNIFORM FIRE CODE, 1997 EDITION", AS PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE INSTITUTE THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Article II (commencing at §12.7) of Chapter 12 of the Code of Redwood City is hereby repealed. SECTION 2. Article II (commencing at §12.7) is hereby added to Chapter 12 of the Code of the City of Redwood City, to read as follows

ADMINISTRATOR: Means the City Manager. <br /> <br />APPROVED: Unless otherwise stated, shall mean approved by the Chief. <br /> <br />BOARD OF APPEALS: As used or appears in the Fire Code, means the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />CHIEF or FIRE CHIEF: Means the head of the Fire ,Department. <br /> <br />CHIEF OF THE BUREAU OF FIRE PREVENTION: Means the Chief of the <br />Bureau of Fire Prevention. <br /> <br />CODE: Means the Municipal Code of the City of Redwood City. <br /> <br />FIRE CODE: Means the Uniform Fire Code, 1997 Edition, including Appendices <br />I, II, III, IV, V, VI-A, VI-B, VI-C,, VI-E, VI-F, VI-G, VI-H, and VI-I. <br /> <br />MUNICIPALITY: Means the City of Redwood City. <br /> <br />Section 12.9.1. Section 101.2 amended. <br /> <br /> Section 101.2 of the Fire Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 101.2. Scope. This Code prescribes regulations consistent with <br />nationally recognized good practice for the safeguarding to a reasonable degree <br />of life and property from the hazards of fire, explosion, and dangerous conditions <br />arising from the storage, handling and use of hazardous materials and devices, <br />and from conditions hazardous to life or property in the use or occupancy of <br />buildings or premises and provisions to assist emergency response personnel. <br /> <br /> The provisions of this Code shall supplement any and all laws of the State of <br />California relating to fire safety and shall apply to all persons, firms, <br />corporations or entity without restriction, unless specifically excepted. <br /> <br /> The provisions of this Code do not apply to off-site transportation of <br />hazardous materials in accordance with Department of Transportation <br />requirements. <br /> <br />Section 12.9.2. Section 101.6 amended. <br /> <br /> Section 101.6 of the Fire Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> Section 101.6.
