1 8 4 9 11/S/81R AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY; AND ADDING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO FIRE PREVENTION; AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE "UNIFORM FIRE CODE, 1979 EDITION, " AS PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS AND THE WESTERN FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Article II (commencing at 12.7) of Chapter 12 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby repea1~d. SECTION 2. <br />of this article shall govern. <br />"Section 12.8 Wherever" the following words appear in the <br />Fire Code, they shall be held to have the following meanings: <br />" (a) Wherever the word 'municipality' appears, it shall be <br />held to mean the City. <br />" (b) Wherever the words 'Chief of the Bureau of Fire <br />Prevention' appear, they sha11 be held to mean the Fire Marshal. <br />" (c) Wherever the word 'Administrator' appears, it shall <br />be held to mean the City Manager. <br />"Section 12.9 Section 1.103 of the Fire Code is hereby amended <br />to read as follows: <br />"'Section 1.103 SCOPE. <br />" , (a) The provisions of this Code shall supplement any and <br />all laws of this State relating to fire safety and shall apply <br />to all persons without restriction, unless specifically excepted. <br />" , (b) The provisions of this Code shall apply to existing <br />conditions as well as to conditions arising after the adoption <br />thereof, except that conditions legally in existence at the <br />adoption of t~is Code and not in strict compliance therewith <br />shall be permitted to continue only if, in the opinion of the <br />Chief, they do not constitute a distinct hazard to life or <br />property. <br />" , (c) The provisions of this Code shall be construed to <br /> -2- <br /> ''''_.4 <br />
