NOV 23 1981 ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 9.2 AND 9.5 OF, REPEALING ARTICLES III, V, AND VI OF CHAPTER 9 OF, RENUMBERING ARTICLE IV, VII, VIII, IX, AND X OF CHAPTER 9 OF, AND ADDING ARTICLES IV AND V TO CHAPTER 9 OF, THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS FOR BUILDING, AND STRUCTURES IN THE CITY OF PÆDWOOD CITY, INCLUDING THE ADOPTION BY REFERENCE OF THE FOLLOWING CODES: THE "UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, 1979 EDITION, " AS PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS (FOURTH PRINTING), THE "UNIFORH BUILDING CODE 1979 EDITION, STANDARDS, " AS PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS (SECOND PRINTING); AND THE "UNIFORM HOUSING CODE, 1979 EDITION, " AS PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS (FIRST PRINTING) THIS COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION l. Section 9.2 of the Code of the City of Redwood . City is hereby amended to read as follows

<br />" , (3) Ordinance No. 1130 (Zoning) . <br />'" (b) The ordinance or Code provisions of this section <br />shall not be construed to preclude the issuance of, a <br />building permit when there are previously or concur- <br />rently issued permits for improvements which would <br />eliminate any noncompliance with the abovementioned <br />ordinances. All such necessary improvements shall <br />be constructed concurrently with the work being done <br />on the structure for which the building permit is issued.'" <br />"Section 9.44 Section 309 is hereby added to the Building <br />Code to read as follows: <br />"'Section 309 (a) No building permit or certificate <br />of occupancy shall be issued by the Building Official <br />if the structure to be constructed or the portion to <br />be remodeled lies within or fails to have the necessary <br />setback distance from any area reserved for the <br />construction, widening or extension of the city street <br />system pursuant to action taken by the Council of the City. <br />" , (b) No building permit or certificate of occupancy <br />shall be issued by the Building Official if the <br />structure to ' be constructed or the portion to be <br />remodeled lies within any recorded property interest <br />held for public purposes or public utility purposes.'" <br />"Section 9.45 Section 2623.1 is hereby added to the Building <br />Code to read as follows: <br />"'Section 2623.1 Concrete Floors: This section shall <br />apply to habitable rooms of Group R-l and R-3 <br />occupancies only. <br />Ii , (1) Concrete slab floors shall have a minimum <br /> thickness of three and one-half inches <br /> (3-~") and shall be reinforced with six <br /> inch by six inch by ten (6"X6"XIO ga.) gauge <br /> wire mesh. , <br />'" (2) A waterproof moisture barrier approved by <br /> the Building Official shall be installed <br /> directly between the concrete slab floor <br /> and granular fill below and must extend <br /> to the outer edge of the foundation at its <br /> base. When the foundation and floor slab <br /> are not poured monolithically such moisture <br /> barrier may extend not more than two inches <br /> (2" ) into the joint between the foundation <br /> and floor slab. <br />II , (3) A granular fill of suitable consistency and <br /> thickness shall be provided directly under <br /> the concrete slab membrane to retard cap111ary <br /> action and shall be approved by the Building <br /> Official. <br />II I (4) On level lots the elevation of the concrete <br /> floor slab shall be six inches (6") above <br /> finished grade. On ~nimproved lots or <br /> sloping ground a six inches (6") elevation <br /> must be maintained "above finished grade.'" <br /> -7- <br /> ,. _.- . <br />
