Description
ORiGINAL ORDINANCE REPEALING CHAPTER 33 OF, AND ADDING CHAPTER 33 TO, THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO TAXICAB REGULATIONS THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Chapter 33 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby repealed. SECTION 2. Chapter 33 is hereby added to the Code of the City of Redwood City to read as follows: "CHAPTER 33. TAXICABS "ARTICLE I. DEFINITIONS

<br /> SWC:rb 9/12/83 <br /> :: rb 9/19/83R <br /> SWC:rb 10/06/83R <br /> SWC:rb 10/10/83R <br />designated by the Chief of Police from at any time inspecting or <br />thoroughly examining any such taxicab or any taximeter used upon <br />any taxicab. <br /> " (b) The owner of each taxicab for which a permit has <br />been issued in accordance with the provisions of this chapter <br />shall cause to have each such taxicab inspected semi-annually by <br />the Police Department at times to be determined by the Chief of <br />Police. The cost of such inspections shall be included in the <br />permit fee described in Section 33.7. <br /> "Section 33.28. It shall be unlawful for an owner or <br />driver to operate a taxicab unless there is in full force and <br />effect a policy of insurance in form as the City Attorney deems <br />proper, executed by an insurance company approved by the city <br />attorney, whereby the owner and driver of each of the permitted <br />taxicabs are insured against liability for damage to property and <br />for injury to or death of any person as a result of the <br />ownership, operation or other use thereof. The minimum liability <br />limits upon each such vehicle shall not be less than Five Hundred <br />Thousand Dollars ($500,00) on account of personal injury to or <br />death of anyone person in anyone accident and One Million <br />Dollars ($1,000,000) on account of the personal injuries to or <br />death of two or more persons in anyone accident, and the minimum <br />liability limits upon each such vehicle shall be not less than <br />Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500,000) for damages to or <br />destruction of property in anyone accident; provided, however, <br /> 11 <br /> 18~1 <br /> ,.,_. _........ <br />
