JAN 9 1984 ORDINANCE ADDING SECTIONS 12.18.5 AND 12.18.6 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY PROVIDING FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE AND MATERIALS THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: Sec~on 12.18.5 is hereby added to the Code of the " City of Redwood City to read as follows: "Section 79.101 of the fire code is hereby amended to read as ~. follows: Section 79.101. ( a) General. The storage, use, dispensing and mixing of flammable and combustible liquids shall be in accordance with this article, except as otherwise provided in other laws or regulations

<br /> be approved by the Fire Prevention Bureau and the appropriate local, state or <br /> federal agency having jurisdiction thereof. Such monitoring devices and <br /> methods, as approved by the Fire Prevention Bureau shall be installed and <br /> operating within six (6) months. The Fire Prevention Bureau may grant an <br /> extension of time for completion of such installation but in no event shall <br /> such time for installatio~ exceed a one year period of this compliance date. <br /> The permit shall only be issued when compliance with all requirements of this <br /> Article have been achieved. <br /> The continued use of existing storage facilities is subject to review and <br /> modification or termination by the Fire Prevention Bureau whenever there has <br /> been any unauthorized discharge from such storage facility. The Fire <br /> Prevention Bureau may terminate use of such storage facility if the Fire <br /> Prevention Bureau determines such facility lacks capacity to contain hazardous <br /> materials. Factors that the Fire Prevention Bureau shall consider in making <br /> such determination are: The age of the storage faèility, the methods of <br /> containment, the methods of monitoring, the feasibility of the required <br /> retrofit, the concentration of the hazardous materials contained, the severity <br /> of potential unauthorized discharge, and the suitability of other long term <br /> preventative measures which meet the intent of this article. <br /> Existing storage facilities which are not approved in accordance with <br /> this Article shall be upgraded to comply with this Article or be closed in <br /> accordance with subsection 3 below within six (6) months of a decision not to <br /> issue a permi t. In unusual circumstances, an extension of time for compliance <br /> with this subsection, not to exceed six (6) additional months may be granted <br /> by the Fire Prevention Bureau. <br /> . <br /> (19) <br /> ,_... -"..- <br />
