Description
JAN 9 1984 ORDINANCE ADDING SECTIONS 12.18.5 AND 12.18.6 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY PROVIDING FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE AND MATERIALS THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: Sec~on 12.18.5 is hereby added to the Code of the " City of Redwood City to read as follows: "Section 79.101 of the fire code is hereby amended to read as ~. follows: Section 79.101. ( a) General. The storage, use, dispensing and mixing of flammable and combustible liquids shall be in accordance with this article, except as otherwise provided in other laws or regulations

<br /> POISONOUS GASES <br /> Sec. 80.205. <br /> (a) Storage of poisonous gases shall be in rooms of at least <br /> one-hour fire-resistive construction as specified in the Building Code <br /> and having natural or mechanical ventilation adequate to remove leaking <br /> gas. Such ventilation shall not discharge to a point where the gases may <br /> endanger any person, domestic animal or wildlife. <br /> EXCEPTION: Poisonous gases may be stored <br /> or used in a room without one-hour fire-resistive <br /> construction and mechanical ventilation, provided: <br /> 1. Two approved self-contained breathing apparatus units are <br /> provided in the immediate area. <br /> 2. Atmosphere is monitored and an audible and visual alarm is <br /> activated when the maximum safe level for long-term exposure is reached. <br /> 3. Excess flow control is provided at the bulk source. <br /> 4. Emergency shutdown controls are provided internal and <br /> external to the area of use. <br /> 5. Approved gas cylinder cabinets which provide adequate <br /> ventilation and fire protection are utilized. <br /> (b) Legible warning signs stating the nature of hazard shall be <br /> paced at all entrances to locations where poisonous gases are stored or <br /> used." <br /> SECTION 3: This ordinance shall be effective 30 days after its <br /> adoption, provided however, the provisions of this ordinance shall be <br /> operative retroactively from and after December 31, 1983. <br /> * * * <br /> , <br /> .. <br /> (28) <br /> ~'_...... <br />
