Section 26.8 is hereby added to the Code of the <br />City of Redwood City to read as follows: <br /> "Section 26.8. Level I Reserve Officer Certification. A <br />reserve police corps member who is issued a Level I Reserve <br />Officer Certificate before January 1, 1981, shall have the full <br />powers and duties of a peace officer as defined in Penal Code <br />Section 830.1, provided that such member is determined by the <br />Chief of Police to be qualified to perform general law <br />enforcement duties by reason of his or her training and <br />experience. A reserve police corps member who desires to apply <br />for a Leve I I Reserve Officer Certificate shall submit, prior to <br />July 1 , 1984, a written statement under penalty of perjury that <br />he or she had applied for, but was not issued, such certificate <br />before January 1 , 1981. A certificate issued under this section <br />shall be deemed to have the full force and effect of any Level I <br />Reserve Officer Certificate issued prior to January 1, 1981. The <br />provisions of this section implement the provisions of <br />Subdivision (b) of Section 832.6 of the Penal Code as amended by <br />Chapter 446, Statutes of 1983. <br /> SECTION 2 .
