1963 JAN 1 8 ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 9 . 2 AND 9.24, AND ARTICLES IV, V, VI, VII, AND VIII OF CHAPTER 9 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS FOR BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, INCLUDING THE ADOPTION BY REFERENCE OF THE FOLLOWING CODES: "THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, 1985 EDITION" ; "THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE STANDARDS, 1985 EDITION" ; "THE UNIFORM BUILDING SECURITY CODE, 1985 EDITION" ; liTHE UNIFORM HOUSING CODE, 1985 EDITION"; "THE UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE, 1985 EDITION"; "THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE, 1985 EDITION"; AND "THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1984 EDITION" THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 9.2 of the Redwood City Code is hereby amended to read as follows

<br /> SV, .nt 12/17/87 (#06) <br /> SWC:nt 12/22/87R <br /> section shall apply to concrete slab s on grade in <br /> construction related to Groups R-1, R-3, and M <br /> occupancies only. <br /> " , (a) Concrete slab floors, garage slabs, and <br /> driveways shall have a minimum thickness of three and <br /> one-half (3~) inches and shall be reinforced with a <br /> minimum six ( 6) inch by six (6 ) inch by six (6 ) guage <br /> welded wire fabric or equivalent area of reinforcing. <br /> Welded wire fabric manufactured in mats shall be used. <br /> All reinforcement shall be appropriately supported in <br /> order to keep the reinforcement in the mid-depth of the <br /> slab until the completion of the concrete pour. <br /> " , (b) Under habitable rooms of Groups R-1 and R-3 <br /> occupancies, a vapor barrier approved by the Building <br /> Official shall be installed beneath the concrete slab <br /> floor. Single-ply plastic vapor barriers shall not be <br /> used. An approved base material of suitable <br /> consistency, compaction, and thickness shall be <br /> provided directly under the concrete slab vapor barrier <br /> to retard capillary action. Two (2 ) inches of sand <br /> shall be provided between the vapor barrier and the <br /> concrete slab. The top of the concrete floor slab <br /> shall be a minimum six (6 ) inches above exterior <br /> finished grade. ' " <br /> "Section 9.46.
