Section 23.7 of the Code of the City of Redwood <br />City is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> "Section 23.7. Eligible Lists; Selection of <br />Appointees. Persons appointed to the competitive service <br />shall be selected from applicants whose names have been <br />placed on eligible lists in the order of their relative <br />merit as determined by competitive examinations, except that <br />applicants for the position of police officer who, (i) at <br />the time of application are employed as full-time police <br />officers by another public agency in the State of California <br />or who, (ii) at the time of application are reserve police <br />officers of the City of Redwood City who, through <br />participation in the police reserve program, have qualified <br />for consideration of appointment, may be named on an <br />eligible list without participating in the competitive <br />examination process; provided, however, that such applicants <br />for the position of police officer shall have successfully <br />passed an oral examination administered by the Police Chief <br />for such appointment. The Police Chief, subject to the <br />approval of the personnel officer, may include the <br />aforementioned qualified applicants for the position of <br />police officer on an eligible list. <br /> 2 <br /> .. ._.~-,.,_., <br />
