Discussion of impacts of California State Assembly Bill 1482 (AB 1482) and <br />consideration of an urgency ordinance providing interim rent stabilization and <br />just cause eviction protections to tenants <br />Recommendation: <br />Discuss local adoption of provisions of AB 1482 and: <br />1. Direct staff to inform Redwood City tenants of legal resources to help them <br />address any disputes with their landlords, and <br />2. Direct staff to inform property owners and landlords of rental property of <br />their obligations under AB 1482 and any locally -established ordinances, and <br />3. Consider adoption, by a vote of at least six City Councilmembers, of an <br />urgency ordinance to implement a "just cause" Eviction Protection Ordinance <br />that would immediately provide (a) just cause eviction protections to <br />Redwood City tenants similar to those provided by AB 1482 statewide <br />effective January 1, 2020 and/or (b) Rent Stabilization requirement via rental <br />rate limitations for Redwood City rental property owners immediately similar <br />to the requirement established by AB 1482 statewide effective January 1, <br />2020. <br />CEQA: <br />General rule common sense exemption CEQA Guideline Exemption Section <br />15061(b)(3) <br />8.13.
