BAY AREA <br />Community Health <br />Advisory Council <br />March 19, 2019 <br />Dear City Council Members, <br />According to California Kids Survey, 15% of high school freshman have used e -cigarettes. 34% <br />of high school seniors have used e -cigarettes. 20% of youth have used e -cigarettes in 30 days!' <br />Although cigarette use is down amongst our youth. Flavored tobacco use amongst youth is on <br />the rise. <br />Tobacco companies are using creative marketing to entice our youth. As a result, 80% of young <br />people who have ever used tobacco started with flavored tobacco products.2 We are urging <br />cities to ban the sale of flavored tobacco.
