changes to the City's codes having to do with preventing similar events <br />here. The only change ever adopted (over objections from several <br />roofers), as I recall, was the one that outlawed wood shake roofing <br />shingles. As for the others which were never adopted, word came back to <br />us that they were too "politically sensitive" for Council to consider at that <br />time. With no further explanation. <br />It is again a time to act. So I write to encourage you and council to do so. <br />The most disturbing factor which the Fire Marshall brought to our <br />attention so long ago was the similarity of our weather to that of <br />Berkeley. He pointed out how a fire starting to our West could become <br />windblown and roar through all of Redwood City with only the bay to <br />stop it. Nothing has changed except that there certainly can't be any <br />politically sensitive issues to prevent action this time around. <br />z <br />
