CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />PUBLIC WORKS SERVICES DIRECTOR (Continued) <br /> <br />JOB RELATED AND ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br /> Knowledqe of: <br /> <br /> Public administration and local government operations. <br /> <br /> Principles and practices of public works administration as applied to the construction and maintenance <br /> of public works facilities, utility systems and fleet maintenance. <br /> <br /> Principles of organization, administration, budget and personnel management. <br /> <br /> Materials, equipment, procedures and practices used in the design, construction, operation, <br /> maintenance and repair of utility systems and street. <br /> <br /> Safe ddving principles and practices. <br /> <br /> Ability to: <br /> <br /> Oversee operations in a multi-faceted general services department. <br /> <br /> Evaluate operations and problems in general service area; plan and implement improvements. <br /> Oversee maintenance of utilities, streets and fleet. <br /> <br /> Supervise the work of others, including planning, directing, monitoring and evaluating. <br /> <br /> Select, train and evaluate professional and technical staff. <br /> <br /> Communicate cleady and concisely, both orally and in writing. <br /> <br /> Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in <br /> the course of work <br /> <br /> Operate a motor vehicle safely. <br /> <br /> Experience and Traininq Guidelines: <br /> Any combination of experience and b-aining that would IiReiy provide the required knowledge and <br /> abirrtie$ is qualif~'ng.
