PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT <br /> I~TILITIES OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE <br /> <br />ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES <br /> <br />Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> <br />l. Throtlgh subordillates, direct staff ill thc operation arid maintenance of sys~n~ such as sanitlh-y <br /> sewers, storm s~vers, pumping systems, water distribution, and cnstom~r services. <br /> <br />2. Plan, schedule, supervise, and monitor projects in thc upgrading and maintenance of City utility <br /> <br />3. Review pl~ng and specifications for facilities improvement and maintenance projects in cio~e <br /> coordination with thc City Engineer. <br /> <br />4. Purchase equipment and supplies as needed. <br /> <br /> Evaluate and prepare utility ra~s and revenue plans for Department Head. City Manager, and City <br /> Council approval and implementation. <br /> <br />6. Identify strategies and prepare long range systems improvcmant plans including budget forecasts. <br /> <br />7. Direct and monitor customer service functions and progrants~ such as Water Consurvation. <br /> <br /> 8. Ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and County ~egulations. <br /> <br />JOB RELATED AND ESSENTIAL QUAL~"ICATIONS <br /> <br /> Knowtedle of: <br /> <br /> Principles and practices of civil engineering and public works administration as applied to thc <br /> construction and maintenance of public works facilities, technical inspection sendces, plan review, and <br /> other areas. <br /> <br /> Materials, cqdipmcnt, procedures, and practices used in the design, construction, operation, maintenance, <br /> and repair of a municipal water distn'bution system, sanitmy suwcr collection system, and storm drainage <br /> <br /> The methods and techniques of waste water disposal and treatment and of the plant and eqnipmcnt used in <br /> such work. <br /> <br /> The m~thods and techniques of potable water treatment and distribution, and of thc plant and equipment <br /> used in such work. <br /> <br /> The proper methods of maintaining related hydraulic and electrical equipment. <br /> <br /> The methods and techniques associated with IqPDES (National Pollution Discharge Elimination Sys~m) <br /> regulations and thc treatment of storm water runoff. <br /> <br /> Waste water treatment process. <br /> <br /> Sewer linc maintenance, equipment, methods, and materials. <br /> <br /> <br />
