PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT <br /> RIGHT-OF-WAY MAINTENANCE <br /> <br />ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES <br /> <br />Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> <br />1. Through Suherdinates, direct staffin lrminf~ellall~ areas such as streets and parking lots maintenanco, <br /> street cleaning, Wa~c control maintenance, street light nmlnteBa~ce, sidewalk replacement and <br /> repair, and sUeet tree maintenance. <br /> <br />2. Evaluate operations in designated areas; develop programs to implement orderly maintenance and <br /> operation of City equipment, materials, tools, and vehicles. <br /> <br />3. Plan, supe~ise, and monitor projects in the upgrading and maintenance of City streets and rights-of- <br /> way. <br /> <br />4. Rev/ew plans and specifications for facilities improvement and maintenance projects in close <br /> coordination with the City Engineer. <br /> <br />JOB RELATED AND ESSENTIAL QUALWICATIONS <br /> <br />Knowledl/e of: <br /> <br />Principles, practices, trades, and crafts used in streets and parking lot maintenance, street cleaning, <br />sidewalk maintenance and repair, traffic control, and street tree maintenance. <br /> <br />Basic organization and administration of municipal uti)an forest programs and maintenance programs, <br />such as landscaping, horticultural, and athoficulturel practices. <br /> <br />Techniques, materials, and equipment used in roadway maintenance systems, general street construction, <br />maintenance, repair work, and sa/cty practices. <br /> <br />Ability to: <br /> <br />Develop a comprehensive fight-of-way maintenance program. <br /> <br />Perform profeasioual arboriculiural work and provide technical advice to street tree contractual <br />maintenance crews. <br /> <br />Oversee the survey and inspection of City streets to determine planting requirements and selection of <br /> <br />Coordinate work of the division with related City departments, private contractors, and other public <br />agencies. <br /> <br />Settle other than routine complaints from property owners. <br /> <br />Exoerience and Tralnin~ Guidelines: <br /> <br />Any combination equivalent to experience and education that would provide the required knowledge and <br />abilities would he quallfy/ng, A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would he: <br /> <br /> 10 <br /> <br /> <br />
