PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT <br /> FLEET AND MUNICIPAL SERVICES CENTER MANAGEMENT <br /> <br />ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES <br /> <br />Additional dufie~ may include, but are ant limited to, the following: <br /> <br /> repair of automolive and heavy equipment and providc oversight management of the City Warehouse <br /> and mail services fimctions as well as thc Municipal Scndces Center (MSC). <br /> <br />2. Assign vehicles to operating programs, analyze level of usage and appropriate fleet size, develop <br /> efficient methods of equipment utiliTstion, and manage rents and le~ses of vehicles and equipment. <br /> <br /> Direct thc development of cost accounting methods for adaptation to electronic data processing. <br /> <br />4. Establish maintenance and work standards. <br /> <br /> Review operational records, mileage and mainteuanee records, and field inspects equipment. <br /> <br />6. Determine thc need for materials, supplies, and equipment and prepare specifications as neeessa~y. <br />7. Perform studies and make recommendations regarding equipment rentals and rates. <br />8. Purchase equipment and supplies as needed. <br /> <br />ADDITIONAL JOB RELATED AND ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Knowled~,e of: <br /> <br />Practices and procedures, terms and techniques used in n~n~ging a variety of equipment and equipment <br />repair sys~ms and warehonsc operations. <br /> <br />Internal combustion engines, automotive and construction equipment, diesel engines and automotive <br />transmissions, automotive record keeping practices. <br /> <br />Methods, practices, materials and tools of thc automotive meeh~nic trade. <br /> <br /> Operating and repair characteristics of a variety of henvy equipment <br /> <br />Laws, ordinances, and procedu~s related to municipal public works. <br /> <br /> Evaluating and making repair estimates for structures, equipment, and contemporary materials. <br /> <br /> Equipment purchasing and acquisition practices and methods, including vehicle/equipment specifications <br /> and replacement factors. <br /> <br /> Equipment m~intensnc~ record keeping systems, including their application in automated management <br /> information systems. <br /> <br /> 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
