DES:dj~, 04/16/96 (096/41) <br /> o R I G I N A L 5/6/96 <br /> <br /> R E S O L U T I O N NO. 12749 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF <br /> AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND SOUTH <br /> COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION AUTHORITY FOR FIRE PROTECTION <br /> SERVICES <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City desires to provide fire <br />protection services to that portion of the City, generally known <br />as Redwood Shores, that lies within the area bounded by Belmont <br />Slough on the north, San Francisco Bay on the east, Steinberger <br />Slough on the south, and the Bayshore Freeway on the west, <br />hereinafter called the "Service Area"; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the distance to the service area from existing <br />Redwood City fire stations requires that arrangements be made <br />with South County Fire Protection Authority to provide response <br />to life and property-threatening calls; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this agreement as hereinafter set forth would <br />greatly reduce the time of response to provide emergency fire <br />protection and rescue services to the Service Area as well as <br />permitting maximum use of equipment and manpower and thereby <br />increasing fire emergency efficiency and rescue capabilities of <br />both Authority and City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City and the South County Fire <br />Protection Authority, acting by and through the Commission of <br />South County Fire Protection Authority, desire to enter into an <br />agreement to provide response to life and property-threatening <br />calls subject to specific conditions including reimbursement by <br />the City of Redwood City for the cost thereof as herein set <br />forth; <br /> <br /> <br />
