DES:dj~, 04/16/96 (096/41) o R I G I N A L 5/6/96 R E S O L U T I O N NO. 12749 RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND SOUTH COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION AUTHORITY FOR FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City desires to provide fire protection services to that portion of the City, generally known as Redwood Shores, that lies within the area bounded by Belmont Slough on the north, San Francisco Bay on the east, Steinberger Slough on the south, and the Bayshore Freeway on the west, hereinafter called the "Service Area"; and WHEREAS, the distance to the service area from existing Redwood City fire stations requires that arrangements be made with South County Fire Protection Authority to provide response to life and property-threatening calls; and WHEREAS, this agreement as hereinafter set forth would greatly reduce the time of response to provide emergency fire protection and rescue services to the Service Area as well as permitting maximum use of equipment and manpower and thereby increasing fire emergency efficiency and rescue capabilities of both Authority and City; and WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City and the South County Fire Protection Authority, acting by and through the Commission of South County Fire Protection Authority, desire to enter into an agreement to provide response to life and property-threatening calls subject to specific conditions including reimbursement by the City of Redwood City for the cost thereof as herein set forth;
