Redevelopment Agency of the City of Redwood City <br /> Management's Discussion and Analysis, Continued <br /> For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2007 <br /> ECONOMIC OUTLOOK AND MAJOR INITIATIVES <br /> In the City's downtown area which is encompassed by the Redevelopment Agency,the newly constructed 590 <br /> space underground public parking garage and the related privately developed 20 screen cinema/retail <br /> complex with 80,000 square feet of retail space opened for business during the summer of 2006. This new <br /> retail complex currently houses Cost Plus World Market, the Shoe Pavilion, several restaurants and a branch of <br /> the San Mateo Credit Union. In conjunction with the revitalization of downtown, the Redevelopment Agency <br /> plans to program promotional and marketing activities to support downtown and encourage first-time and <br /> reoccurring visits from both residents and the broader Peninsula Community. Additionally,the <br /> Redevelopment Agency will be participating in the County-wide Transit Oriented Development Opportunity <br /> Study to support the principle of both pedestrian and vehicular linkages between the downtown,Sequoia <br /> Station and El Camino Real, as well as the development of high density housing adjacent to transit. <br /> CONTACTING THE AGENCY'S FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT <br /> These Component Unit Financial Statements are intended to provide citizens,taxpayers, investors, and <br /> creditors with a general overview of the Agency's finances.
