7C
Page 46
practices may have to be modified if porous pavemer►t systems are
empiayed.
3. Where bioswales are incarpora#ed in site development plans to convey
stormwater from paved surfaces to Redwaod Creek or the marinas,
implement design guidelines described in Start af fhe Source: Design
Guidance for Sformwater Qualify Protecfion, including the following:
a. Swale lengths should be a minimum af 100 feet to provide effective
filtering; and
b. 1f swale slopes exceed two percen#, check structures should be installed
at appropriate intervals along the iength af the swafe to slow flow
velocities and fio increase infiltration opportunities.
4. Revegetate all disturbed areas at the onsst(October)of the first winter rainy
season following the completion of construction, and at a similar time during
the next one to two years as required to fully revege#ate the site. Use of an
erosian control grass and forb mixture, #avoring native species, is best suited
to this task. In additian, instaf) biodegradable surface erosion protection (e.g.,
naturai mulch,ju#e netting, erosion control blankets, punched straw)to reduce
the erosive energy of incoming raindrops for at least the first winter season
following construction. If project construction spans fwo consecutive winter
seasons, these erosion protection measures shal! be implemented at the
beginning of each winter season, unless there is successful establishment of
vegefal cover after the first year.
5. Install silt fencing along the construction perimeter prior to the start of
construction, and keep the fencing in-place until construction is compteted
and erosion-controi winterization measures are implemented.
6. Prepare and implement an irrigation scheduling and chemical management
pian governing the application of irrigation water and chemical amendments
to landscaped areas adjacent to buildings and within or adjacent to parking lot
facilities. Components of such a plan fikefy would include an irrigatian
schedule linked to soil moisture levels or reiated variabfes (such as
temperature, humidity, and wind speed). Specific chemical inputs praposed
for applicatian to vegetation shall be amang those tested and cfeared 6y the
USEPA. Frea, uency and scheduling of these chemicaf inputs also shall be
indicated based on site-specific characteristics (such as soil and vegetative
cover and rates af uptake)and the acknowledged sensitivity of downstream
receiving watrs.
Findings: Implementation of these measures woufd reduce the water quaiity
impacts to a less-fhan-signicanf level.
C.
